Welcome to the
Hermetic Order of the Stella Matutina!

The Ordo Stella Matutina is a Golden Dawn physical initiatory Order, dedicated to the dissemination of the traditional teachings of the historical Golden Dawn's Hermetic Society, through the process of instruction and initiation. Our esoteric Sanctuary is a gateway into the Western Mystery Tradition, which includes, but is not limited to, the study and practice of Qabalah, Hermeticism, Theurgy, Alchemy, and Magic.

We are a fully established Hermetic Order working within the Golden Dawn and Rosicrucian Tradition. Our teachings, training exercises, and ritual methods primarily adhere to the original Golden Dawn and Stella Matutina, as taught by its primary founders; Dr. William W. Westcott, Dr. Woodman, and S.L. MacGregor Mathers, and later through Dr. Felkin, W. B. Yeats, Florence Farr, Brode-Innes, and Dr. Israel Regardie. 

The Ordo Stella Matutina

The Ordo Stella Matutina (OSM) and its curriculum are dedicated to teaching and providing its students with abstract esoteric concepts and the practical applications of Qabalah, astrology, divination, spiritual and practical alchemy, skrying and astral work, and Enochian magic.

The OSM is governed and operated by the three Chiefs (Imperator, Praemonstrator, Cancellarius), and is the primary means of communication between teachers of the Outer Order of the OSM and her initiated members.

The Sanctuary of Ma'at

The Hermetic Sanctuary of Ma'at (HSoM)- or "Virtual Sanctuary"- exists in cyberspace and provides OSM initiates worldwide with resources and a means to communicate with their instructors and other members. This provides benefits to people who do not have access to a local Golden Dawn Temple, but desire to practice the 'Traditional' GD system through the path of physical Initiation.  Our teaching and learning methodology is unique and innovative, and requires active participation from the student.

The HSoM is also a public Western Mystery School- accepting applications from any aspirant dedicated to the Golden Dawn Tradition. We offer our resources to other Orders and Temples- who regularly use our system of private grade-forums, proctoring and testing for their own students. Solitary practitioners and study groups are also welcome to join the Sanctuary, where they can follow a path of Self-Initiation as outlined by Chic and Sandra Tabatha Cicero in their book "Self Initiation into the Golden Dawn Tradition."

Students who are admitted into the HSoM will gain access to a multitude of study and networking resources:

• Both Private and Public Forums for networking with other Ordo Stella Matutina students and teachers.
• Study and Practice Material for Each Grade. Including practical exercises, Online-Quizzes, Multimedia presentations, Lectures and Essays and much more.
• Personal Proctoring and regular live Online Classes. Including live chat, private email and telephone instruction. (Students who live near their Proctors may also request face-to-face instruction.) Guest Instructors will also give live seminars periodically.

As a Long Distance member of the Ordo Stella Matutina, you will find everything you need to do your grade work and on-line testing for advancement, so that you can advance at your own pace.

Upon completion of your on-line testing of the requirements of a grade, you will be issued a "dispensation," by the Chiefs of our order, which qualifies you for physical Initiation at one of our OSM temples.

For beginners, initiates and seasoned practitioners of the Golden Dawn Tradition, we hope that this website will provide you with a place where you can share, discuss, and help others along the path. For everyone else, we hope that you will find the answers to the questions regarding the Golden Dawn and the Ordo Stella Matutina and provide you with guidance if you decide to embark upon this magical journey.

Through the assistance and cooperation of individuals and various Golden Dawn Orders, we hope to provide a community where knowledge of the Golden Dawn Tradition can be shared, refined, and preserved for generations to come.
